BIRTH & POSTPARTUM DOULA SERVICES

Birth & Postpartum Doula: About

YOUR BIRTH, YOUR WAY

As your doula, I support your personal journey into parenthood. You know what is best for you and your growing family, and it is my honor to respect you and your needs during this time of growth and transition, however it unfolds.

Whether you choose a homebirth with a midwife or a hospital birth with an epidural, my intention is to offer you continuous support. I am skilled in helping you manage pain, connect with your own strength and power, and provide you with the emotional support you may need. Additionally, I offer informational support to help you feel confident with your decisions throughout pregnancy, labor and postpartum.

I am happy to act as your primary support person or to assist your partner or other loved ones to best support you. As a member of your birth team, I fully respect the role I need to fill- gladly encouraging your partner to show you support with techniques and affirmations, while also taking time to care for themselves so they can be fully present for you and your child.

BIRTH DOULA SERVICES

A complete care package is comprised of five sessions.

Investment: $2250. Payment plans are available.

Sliding scale is also offered, as I believe every mother who wants a doula should have one.

If you are on Medicaid, you may qualify for **free** doula support through Gunnison Valley Health. Reach out to learn more.

SESSION 1 - TIME TO GET TO KNOW EACH OTHER

The more I learn about you and your needs, the better I will be able to support you. This session usually takes place in the comfort of your home. It is a time for you to share your hopes, fears, and expectations.

SESSION 2 - CHILDBIRTH EDUCATION

This session will go over everything you need to know to confidently give birth. Your partner is encouraged to be present as well. My approach is holistic, evidence-based, and catered to meet your needs. Together we will create a "Birth Preferences" letter to send to your doctor or midwife prior to your birth and to bring to the hospital so everyone is on the same page.

SESSION 3 - POSTPARTUM PREPERATION

So much time is spent focused on the pregnancy and birth that oftentimes parents aren't sure what to do once their baby is home. This session is designed to help parents plan and be prepared for what is to come. We will talk about postpartum recovery, how to best care for mama and baby, sleeping options, breastfeeding, managing responsibilities, sibling integration (if applicable), and things that you may not expect because no one talks about it...

A prenatal photoshoot is available during any of these sessions.

SESSION 4 - THE BIRTH

Whether you are giving birth at home or in a hospital, once you are in labor and ready for me to join you I will meet you either at home or at the hospital and start working my doula magic. Support includes pain management with physical touch, suggested position changes to progress labor, words of encouragement, knowledge for you to make informed decisions, barer of water and snacks, and overall care to you and your partner.

In the birth room, I am as hands-on or hands-off as you need.

Birth Photography is always included.

After your baby is born I stay with you until you are comfortably settled in with your baby and help you get that first latch going.

SESSION 5 - POSTPARTUM HOME VISIT

A few days after you have settled into your new groove I will come over and pamper you as we discuss your birth and your experience postpartum. This session is very flexible and may invovle me folding laundry as we chat, or holding your baby as you take a long-deserved shower.

"As a first-time mom, Charlotte was so informative and helping to explain the birthing process to me. We went through what would happen from the first contraction to delivery. She helped me understand my rights as a mom and how to speak up for what I needed as well as for my baby. When things took a turn and I had to have my baby via planned cesarean, Charlotte was right there with us supporting in every way she could. From pictures of those first moments with my new family (and gorgeous maternity photos too!) to back rubs and yoga poses to assist with pain from the surgery. Charlotte is a true professional and skilled at her craft. Her calming presence was so helpful to me. I highly recommend her to any new or experienced mama!"
